We're looking for a talented Senior Android Engineer with a love for the outdoors. If you’re passionate about writing great software, love playing outside, believe in protecting access to public lands and want to dominate the off-pavement mobile GPS market, please consider applying.

We have plenty of fun, challenging, and rewarding projects ahead, and we need a talented software engineer to help us take our apps to the next level. 

LOCATION: Bozeman, MT; Missoula, MT; or Remote.  Additionally, being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment. We do not sponsor work visas (of any kind ) for this position at this time.

Kotlin, Git / GitHub, Travis CI. Other technologies if you’re interested in contributing to more of the stack: Swift, Elixir, Javascript, MySql, Java, Go, Docker, Kubernetes, PostGIS, and the Google Cloud Platform.

RESPONSIBILITIES

(Essential Job Duties)

  • Develop new user-facing features
  • Using Kotlin, build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Connect to REST and GraphQL services using Retrofit, Apollo GraphQL, and OkHttp
  • Store data locally using a combination of SQLite, Shared Preferences, and disk caching
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Maintain an “offline first” application that must work with or without service
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Mentor other Android developers 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in software engineering, computer engineering, computer science or related degree
  • Minimum of six (6) or more years of full-time experience in software development
  • Minimum of three (3) or more years with Android development (Kotlin and/or Java)
  • Demonstrable understanding of computer science fundamentals and software development best practices
  • You have previous experience in mobile app development; experience with a published app is a plus
  • You are excited to work with experienced developers and write great code

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • You know your data structures and you know how to apply them
  • Software development experience using Kotlin
  • Experience with RxJava library
  • Experience working with a distributed team
  • Familiarity with Git/Github
  • Passion for the outdoors
